On the north coast The small village of Chuao is located in Venezuela. The fine, highly aromatic cocoa, which is processed in this chocolate and which gives it its name, has been growing on the cocoa plantations near this village for hundreds of years. It is of the highest quality and is one of the finest cocoa varieties in the world.

In 1993 the two German confectioners Oliver Coppeneur and Georg Bernardini (The Chocolate Tester) founded the company Coppeneur in the idyllic Rhine town of Bad Honnef. Initially, experimentation was mainly with pralines and confectionery, and the focus gradually shifted to the manufacture of chocolate bars from first-class cocoa. Today Coppeneur is one of the best chocolatiers in Germany and employs over 100 people - the former co-founder Georg Bernardini left the company in 2010 with Georgia Ramon to create another brand for first-class chocolates.
